sollte XQuartz bei OpenGL-Anwendungen abstürzen, dann deshalb:

Die letzte stabile Version ist 2.7.8. Fix ist bereits upstream und sollte so ab 2.7.11 im Paket sein.

so in short – it might take some time to fix this on there XQuartz side/Mesa.

It seems the 2.7.8 version of XQuartz works mostly. Anything else does fail. So my suggestion is you go back to 2.7.8 and try this again. Sorry there is no fix at the moment.
